"Ukrainian Youth for Community Organizing" - Ukraine, 2024

This project, implemented in partnership with YouthUp and supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, aimed to strengthen democratic engagement among young people in Ukraine, particularly in rural areas of the Chernivtsi and Kyiv regions.

Through a series of workshops and trainings, participants developed skills in community organizing, dialogue, and social rebuilding. The workshop in Kyiv featured a panel discussion on democratic community development, practical sessions on collaboration, and presentations of pilot initiatives.

As a result, youth participants launched four community-driven projects:

  • Chernivtsi region – Strengthening dialogue between youth, local authorities, and civil society
  • Bila Tserkva – Establishing mentorship programs to increase community involvement
  • Velyka Dymerka – Developing a youth policy framework
  • Bucha – Revitalizing the Plast Training Center for broader youth engagement

Corridors’ Ukraine Programme Coordinator Felipe Daza and Director Sebastian Relitz took part in the final event, reinforcing our commitment to youth-led democratic initiatives.

The training introduced 24 participants from Armenia, Georgia, and Germany to theatre methods such as image theatre, newspaper theatre, and forum theatre—powerful tools for analyzing and addressing conflicts on individual, collective, and global levels.

This was Corridors’ first time integrating theatre methods into peace education, and the experience was a great success. Participants then received mentoring support to implement their own theatre-based initiatives in their communities.

The program was funded by MEET UP! Youth for Partnership, supported by Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future and the German Federal Foreign Office.
